Overnight Shelter Opened for Border 32 Fire in Potrero, Dulzura

The wildfire near State Route 94 and Barrett Lake Road is currently at 1,600 acres with a continued structure threat. According to CAL FIRE, the Border 32 Fire continues pushing east and has crossed Highway 94 on the eastern portion of the fire. It is now burning on both sides of State Route 94. Over 400 homes are affected by evacuations. Evacuations are ordered for the Barrett Lake Road area, Coyote Holler Road area, and Round Potrero Road near Potrero and Dulzura. This is an evacuation order and requires immediate movement out of the affected area due to an imminent threat to life. If you need emergency assistance with evacuation, call 911. Mountain Empire High School at 3305 Buckman Springs Road in Pine Valley is the designated overnight shelter. The Southern California Red Cross will provide food and supplies. The temporary evacuation point at Jamul Casino at 14145 Campo Road is closing. The SheriffE28099s Department has closed several roads in the area: * Tecate Port of Entry * SR-94 closed to all traffic between Forrest Gate Road in Campo and Otay Lakes Road in Dulzura * Barrett School Road is closed at Highway 94Families with pets and large animals can go to the San Diego County Animal Shelter located at 5821 Sweetwater Road in Bonita.
