Red Flag Warning and School Closures

The San Diego National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 11:00PM Tuesday, October 29 until 6:00pm on Thursday, October 31. The Red Flag Warning has been issued due to strong gusty winds and low humidity and is in effect for San Diego County mountains and valleys. Winds will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph and gusts at mountain tops up to 75 mph. More forecast information and updates are available from National Weather Service. In the event of an incident, you may receive an Evacuation Order, this means there is an immediate threat to life. It is a lawful order to leave immediately. The area will be lawfully closed to public access. If you receive an Evacuation Warning, that means there is a potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave immediately. The San Diego County Office of Education reports that the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance to schools across the county. Because San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has activated a public safety power shutoff in certain parts of the county, schools in the following school districts will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 30: · Julian Union High School District · Julian Union School District · Mountain Empire Unified School District · Spencer Valley School District Follow the San Diego County Office of Education on Twitter (@SanDiegoCOE) for school district status as well as live updates.
