CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire is battling a wildfire that started at 2 p.m. off Interstate 8 and Williams Road, near the Indian Reservation in the community of Campo. The fire is currently 550 acres and is threatening structures, according to fire officials.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department issued Evacuation Orders and Warnings for nearby areas. An Evacuation Order requires immediate movement out of the affected area due to an imminent threat to life. An Evacuation Warning means there is a potential threat to life and/or property.
A Temporary Evacuation Point is located at the Golden Acorn Casino, 1800 Golden Acorn Way.
Interstate 8 is closed to all traffic westbound between Highway 94 and Ribbonwood Road and eastbound at Kitchen Creek Road. Traffic is diverted to Old Highway 80.
